It plays a role in insulin-dependent GLUT4 transport to the plasma membrane in adipocytes and in glucose-stimulated insulin secretion in pancreatic cells. Doc2b is involved in the exocytosis of intracellular vesicles, such as insulin granules, by regulating the soluble N-ethylmaleimide-sensitive factor attachment protein receptor (SNARE) and Sec1/Munc18 (SM) proteins.
