Preparation and Storage

The antibody was purified from tissue culture supernatant by affinity chromatography. The antibody solution should be stored undiluted at 4°C.

Usage

This antibody has been tested by immunofluorescent staining ( 1 mg/million cells) with flow cytometric analysis to assure specificity and reactivity. Mouse Fc Block™ (Cat. no. 553141/553142) should be used when staining with the 6C1 antibody, and a second-step antibody which does not cross-react with Mouse Fc Block™ (mAb 2.4G2, rat IgG_2b, k) must be used. We recommend biotinylated anti-rat IgG₁ mAb RG11/39.4 (Cat. no. 553890) followed by a "bright" third-step reagent, such as Streptavidin-PE (Cat. no. 554061) for optimal staining. Other reported applications include immunoprecipitation.¹ Since applications vary, each investigator must determine dilutions appropriate for individual use.

Caution

Sodium azide is a reversible inhibitor of oxidative metabolism; therefore, antibody preparations containing this preservative agent must not be used in cell cultures nor injected into animals. Sodium azide may be removed by washing stained cells or plate-bound antibody or dialyzing soluble antibody in sodium azide-free buffer. Since endotoxin may also affect the results of functional studies, we recommend the NA/LE™ (No Azide/Low Endotoxin) antibody format for in vitro and in vivo use.
