The most common difficulty in running gels with this material is having material that is not sufficiently denatured or reduced. Because of the aggregation of the protein, clean bands are not usually achieved, however one should see the expected dimer at 33kDa and a monomer of 19kDa with approximately 10% additional impurities if the samples are fully reduced. Some report that the use of 2M guanidium buffers help to reduce the aggregation as well.
