View All» Isotype: IgG View All» Background Information: Interferon regulatory factor 2(IRF-2) is a nuclear transcriptional repressor containing a single tryptophan pented repeat DNA-binding domain. This protein is a member of the IRF family, a group of proteins known to interact with various DNA-binding site sequences to regulate target gene transcription. IRF-2 represses type I IFN and IFN-inducible MHC class I genes (ICS) by binding to their upstream, regulatory regions. It is also an activator for a variety of other genes. These genes include IL7, which IRF2 activates by binding to the ISRE promoter region, and H4, activated by and serving as a regulatory pathway for IRF-2 in the cell cycle. Studies have also shown IRF-2 to block IRF-1 transcriptional activation, and that it may also function as a tumor suppressor.
