The antibody does not cross react with other MMP family members (MMP-2A, MMP-2B, MMP-3, or MMP-9). When used for Western blot and when used against the reduced protein, AB8105 identified bands at 53 kDa and 51 kDa (the pro-form), as well as active forms. The smallest active form of MMP-1 is truncated at its carboxy terminus. AB8105 will recognize the cleaved end resulting from this truncation, but not the active enzyme.
