The PAF1/RNA polymerase II transcription complex has been shown to aid in the regulation of transcriptional elongation, histone methylation, and RNA processing. Deletion of LEO1 by itself leads to few obvious phenotypes. However, in combination with a PAF1 deletion, the additional deletion of the LEO1 protein suppresses several phenotypes which result from the defective PAF1 complex and a block in transcription.
