View All» Background Information: CHD9 is a member of the chromodomain-helicase-DNA-binding family of proteins. Consistent with other members of this family this protein functions as an ATP-dependent chromatin remodeling protein that interacts with nucleosomes and plays a role in chromatin remodeling to modulate transcription. CHD9 has been shown to possess DNA-dependent ATPase activity and to associate with A/T-rich regulatory regions in promoters of genes that participate in the differentiation of progenitors during osteogenesis. The CHD9 protein is a member of the SNF2/RAD54 helicase family and contains two chromodomains (chromatin organization modifiers), single helicase/ATPase domain, as well as a helicase C-terminal domain.This protein is found in both the cytoplasm and nucleus and can be phosphorylated on serine and tyrosine residues. This protein is widely expressed in a variety of tissues at at low levels. In bone marrow, expression is restricted to osteoprogenitor cells adjacent to mature osteoblasts. CHD9 has been shown to interact with PPARA to function as a transcriptional coactivator. This protein also possibly interacts with other nuclear receptors such as with ESR1 (Estrogen Receptor-alpha) and NR1I3 (constitutive androstane receptor/CAR). View All» Species Reactivity:
