Rab25 has observed expression in kidney, lung and gastrointestinal mucosa, appearing to be exclusively expressed within epithelial cells. This specific expression has led to the implication that Rab25 has a role as a regulator for vesicular transport associated with epithelia. Rab25 is potentially a selective regulator for transcytotic pathways and apical recycling. Several recent studies have indicated an observable loss of Rab25 in breast cancer tissue and cell lines, and have suggested a potential role for Rab25 as a regulator for Ras induced tumorigenesis.
