View All» Clone: BRM 2D3 View All» Isotype: IgG2aκ View All» Background Information: Bromodomain-containing protein 7(BRD7) is a relatively novel protein and component of the Polybromo-associated BRG1-associated factor (PBAF) complex which is found within both embryonic stem cells and differentiated cells. BRD7 is necessary to various cellular processes, including growth, cycle progression, and signal-dependent gene expression. Due to its sequence similarity with other proteins containing bromodomains, researchers have suggested a potential role for BRD7 within complexes involved in chromatin remodeling and that BRD7 may have activity as a histone acetyltransferase. Studies have indicated a critical role for BRD7 in the activation and repression of embryonic stem cell target genes. Nuclear expression of BRD7 has been observed in cerebellum, intestines, kidney, liver and pancreas. Cytoplasmic expression has been noted in cardiomyocytes and there are two, recognized isoforms of BRD7 resulting from alternative splicing. Isoform 2 is found within the nucleus.
