View All» Clone: 14.2Ga View All» Isotype: IgG2a View All» Background Information: GD2 is expressed on the surfaces of a wide range of tumor cells of neuroectodermal origin, including neuroblastoma, melanomas, and other soft tissue sarcomas. Due to its specific expression on tumor cells, GD2 is an attractive target for immunotherapy. Gangliosides are sialic-acid bearing glycolipids and are likely involved in mediating cell signal transduction events. They are important target antigens for antibody dependent cellular cytotoxicity (ADCC) of human melanoma and neuroblastoma cells. Human melanoma cells produce gangliosides, designated as GD2 and GD3, are deposited in the subtratum-attached material and may play a significant role in the melanoma metastatic phenotype.
