Expression of the EVX-1 gene during embryogenesis defines the V0 and V1 classes of ventral interneurons in the ventral spinal cord, proposing that EVX-1 may also serve as a potential drug target for patients who suffer from loss of locomotive coordination due to spinal cord injury or stroke.
